Brief 2022 - Industry Project / Grain Furniture x CSM 'Future Antiques'
Aiming to celebrate the natural wear and tear of every day wooden furniture as well as being enabling the user to take an active part in the deterioration process to evolve the object during their lifetime.
Wooden household furniture are at the centre of everyday life, until marks across their surfaces build up and lead to the discarding of these pieces. This material has been developed to celebrate that inevitable deterioration: marks across this ‘Wear and Tear Ply’ reveal playful colours that highlight the accidental or purposeful erosion of its surface. It enables a sentimental attachment; the marks will represent a lifetime of quotidian moments creating a unique tapestry of memories.
